A Summer Spay is Better for Your Cat

los lunas cat spay neuter

It is summer and that means the cats are outside and likely frolicking. With Covid-19 still plaguing us, at least someone is outside enjoying life. But your cat is not likely engaging ins six feet of social distancing. Likely they are out fraternizing with your neighbors cat which could lead to a nice new litter of kittens. Summer is a great time to get your cat altered. Getting your cat spayed or neutered is part of being a responsible pet owner. Not only does it ensure that you are not making kittens all over town, but your cat will be healthier and happier because of it.

We often offer great discounts on surgeries so make sure to check out our promotions. If that was not enough incentive, let us share some reason why its a good idea:

  • Reduces Health Problems: Spaying and neutering reduces a variety of health problems that could spell early death for your pet. Spaying female cats prior to their first reproductive cycle eliminates the risk of breast and uterine cancer, as well as the possibility of uterine infections. For male cats, neutering helps prevent testicular cancer, enlargement of the prostate gland, and perianal tumors. Un-neutered males are also more likely to roam around in search of a mate, increasing the likelihood that they could get hit by a car or meet some other unfortunate end. It’s impossible to justify risking your cat’s life by not getting them spayed or neutered.
  • Behavior Improvements: Some people believe that spaying or neutering their cat will bring about negative personality changes. In reality, the opposite is true. As previously mentioned, males are less likely to roam when the drive to find a mate is eliminated, meaning they’ll become less restless and more at ease with staying put. Males also tend to become less aggressive and get along better with other pets when neutered. When reproductively active female pets go into heat, they tend to become agitated, pacing around the house, making lots of noise, and sometimes even urinating all over everything.

In short, a spayed or neutered pet is a happy pet.m Let your pet socialize with all the neighbors without making kittens!
